“It’s knot your average scarf,” that’s what Olivia Rose founder and CEO of Oli Rose Designs says about her unique take on her choker/bandana hybrid. Olivia and I caught up over a dinner in Orange County that had us laughing, sharing insider business tips, and of course talking fashion.
This stylish Cali girl has always had an entrepreneurial side, and just a few months ago she decided to put her passion for fashion into motion. While the two of us first met at a bible study in September it wasn’t until we started chatting on our way out that we realized how much we really had in common. Hello!? We are both from Orange County, obsessed with fashion, are reality TV junkies, and both of our middle names are Rose. Do I really need to say more? Once Olivia shared her amazing ideas from Oli Rose Designs with me, I knew I just had to expose the goods to all of you #FTcrew.
Q. Who is Olivia Rose?
A. I am Oli Rose! My first name is Olivia and my middle name is Rose. I have always been a big fan of my name, so I figured why not have that be the name of my company!
Q. What is Oli Rose Designs?
A. Oli Rose Designs is a small business that provides custom necktie bandanas. It allows the customer to personalize the bandana to whatever suites their style/personality.
Q. What inspired you to start your own company?
A. I have always had an interest in starting my own company, I was just never sure of where to start. I knew that whatever I decided to do I would want it to be creative and truly represent all aspects of my personality.
Q. Why bandanas?
A. Bandanas are amazing! They have withstood the test of time. I believe that they are the perfect touch to any outfit because it adds a stylish flare without being too over the top.
Q. What is a day in the life like?
A. A day in the life requires me wearing many hats. I work alone on the business, so I am always trying to come up with new marketing ideas and creative ways to expand overall. I am constantly making sure that orders are fulfilled and that I am keeping track of inventory. The marketing side of the business is more fun for me, but the strategic side is definitely important to stay on top of.
Q. Do you have dreams of expanding your product line?
A. I most definitely have dreams of expanding my product line. I think that product personalization has become such a big trend throughout this last year, so I would love to come out with various personalized products.
Q. Where do you see yourself and company in five years?
A. In five years I would love to be in multiple stores and possibly some bigger e-commerce stores as well. I also would love to have a team behind me to help me come up with new and creative additions to my brand.
Q. What is something you want people to know your company stands for or represents?
A. Something I would want people to know that my company represents is encouraging confidence within women. I think that people underestimate the power of genuine confidence within themselves and I want girls to feel beautiful and empowered while wearing my product because it represents a small piece of who they are and what they are capable of.
Q. What advice do you have for young girl bosses looking to pursue their dreams?
A. Be patient! Understand that a dream without a plan is just an idea and if you rush the process or cut any corners, you won’t be able to ultimately achieve as much.
Q. If you could pick one celebrity to wear your designs, who would it be?
A. Hmm… that is a tough one. I would probably have to say Blake Lively. She is a great example of a celebrity who is a humble yet incredibly successful woman… not to mention she is drop dead gorgeous.
Q. What’s your go-to guilty pleasure?
A. Lame reality TV shows and French fries. Doesn’t get much guiltier than that!
Q. When you are not working on designs, what can you be found doing?
A. Spending quality time with friends and family. I love taking mini weekend adventures to escape and unplug for just a day or two.
